50:50 Sharemilker - Arapuni, South Waikato
A competent and experienced 50:50 sharemilker is required for a 240-cow dairy farm at Arapuni, South Waikato. The 80 effective hectare property is mostly rolling contour with some steeper sidlings.
This system 2 farm targets a peak of 240 cows, through a 36 bale rotary cowshed with automatic cup removers. This farm is on track to produce over 75,000kgMS using PKE and brought-in maize silage. Preference will be given to a Jersey or cross-bred herd, with a mid-July planned start of calving.
The ideal applicant will:
Have a minimum of 3 years dairy farming experience, and 1 year farm management experience
Have excellent pasture management and feed planning knowledge
Excel in animal health and husbandry
Competent with record keeping and using farm application software
Have a proven track record for tidiness and attention to detail
Be self-motivated and have good communication skills
Ensure all aspects of health and safety are managed
The owners are looking for a sharemilker who is keen to learn, and will take the time to listen. Communication is vital, that coupled with a focus on details will see this tidy farm perform at an excellent level.
