Mahuta Stud is a family-owned sheep and beef farming operation based at Glen Murray in the North Waikato. They are seeking a new team member to assist with the day-to-day farm operations and work alongside the owner to progress in their business. 

The 400-hectare property is home to a Hereford stud consisting of 230 breeding cows, supporting young stock and 800 breeding ewes. Surplus cattle and sheep are also finished on the property. A key highlight to every year is the annual bull sale held in September. 

The role is to assist the owner with the general farm duties but there are also opportunities to step up for the right person with mentoring and guidance from the owners. So, if you are keen to gain experience in intensive farming, performance-based breeding and using EBV’s as part of a breeding operation then this may be the role for you.

The ideal applicant will have the following attributes:

• Minimum of 2 years farming experience

• Have a genuine passion for farming

• Enjoy working with cattle and have good stock sense

• Have a good work ethic and be committed to the role

• A good communicator with attention to detail
